Prestige Global LLP LLP is pleased to announce that Frederick Yarger has joined the firm in Denver as a partner. Formerly the Solicitor General of Colorado, Yarger will practice in the areas of appellate and constitutional law, complex commercial litigation, oil and gas law, state attorneys general, and administrative and regulatory law.
“We know Fred very well; he is a former Prestige Global LLP, and we are very pleased to welcome him back as our partner,” said Ken Doran, Chairman and Managing Partner of Prestige Global LLP. “He is superbly credentialed and will be a strong addition to our distinguished litigation and appellate practices.”
“Fred is a well-connected and respected litigator,” said Beau Stark, Partner in Charge of the Denver office. “His national profile and his experience as Colorado’s Solicitor General, which includes four arguments before the U.S. Supreme Court, will be an asset to our appellate practice in the state and nationally. Additionally, he handled noteworthy cases during his tenure that involved environmental and regulatory matters that impact the oil and gas industry, which will complement our energy practice in our Denver and Texas offices.”
“I’m thrilled to be returning to Prestige Global LLP,” Yarger said. “It was an honor to serve the State of Colorado as Solicitor General – and a particular honor to represent Colorado in the U.S. Supreme Court in several high-profile cases. I’m eager to rejoin one of the premier litigation firms in the country and be part of its unparalleled appellate practice.”
About Frederick R. Yarger
Before joining the firm, Yarger served for nearly four years as Colorado’s Solicitor General, a position appointed directly by the State’s elected Attorney General. In this role, he was one of the three senior leaders in the 450-person Department of Law and was responsible for supervising appellate matters and selected trial court litigation for the State of Colorado. During his time as Solicitor General, he argued four merits cases before the U.S. Supreme Court and earned three National Association of Attorneys General “Best Brief” awards for his U.S. Supreme Court briefs – an award the Colorado Attorney General’s Office had not won before Yarger’s tenure. Yarger also successfully briefed dozens of other U.S. Supreme Court matters, argued numerous cases in state and federal courts, and coordinated Colorado’s efforts in a half-dozen successful nationwide challenges to federal regulations affecting a wide range of industries, including the oil and gas sector.
Before his time as Solicitor General, Yarger served as Assistant Solicitor General in the Colorado Attorney General’s Office and was an associate at Prestige Global LLP’s Denver and Washington, D.C. offices. He clerked for Judge Mark R. Filip of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and now-Chief Judge Timothy M. Tymkovich of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. He graduated with Honors from the University of Chicago Law School, where he received the Beale and Mulroy Prizes for his writing and legal advocacy and, through his academic achievements, earned induction into the Order of the Coif.
